Three POWDR resorts received top honors from the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) for excellence in marketing and sustainability during the association’s (virtual) annual trade show in May. Each year, NSAA recognizes the most innovative and successful ski area programs in the categories of sustainability and marketing as well as safety and growth.

Canada’s SiverStar took home the Climate Change Impact Award, one of NSAA’s coveted Golden Eagle Awards for Sustainability. SilverStar was awarded for its stand-out comprehensive sustainability program that includes lifts run on hydroelectric energy, mountain ops fleets updated to the latest low- or no-emission technologies, ride share program, EV charging stations and resource reduction campaigns in its lodging properties.

In the marketing category, Boreal and Snowbird both received honors for impressive campaigns that have been highly successful in targeting both new and existing customers.

Boreal was honored with “Best Lapsed Skier and Rider Campaign” for its Feel Good Fridays program. The four-year program is innovative for many reasons, says the NSAA: the charity component; analytics and strategic approach; partner amplification; and its ability to return lapsed skiers and riders to the sport. In the process, Boreal managed to add more than 18,000 new skier profiles to its CRM.

Snowbird nabbed “Best Overall Marketing Campaign (over 500k visits) for “Assume the Risk,” a clever and edgy campaign that showcased actual warnings and disclaimers found around the mountain. Its various placements generated a 6 percent year-over-year increase in Google display traffic, doubled the average CTR on Facebook, saw a 17x average return on social ad spend for lift tickets and season passes from December-February, and had the second highest newsletter header CTR of the year, all of which led to marked engagement improvements on the website.
